Sensor's Function

As far as we know, in order to get information from the outside world, people must get help from our sense organs. However, to do some research about the natural phenomenon or rules is rather difficult only on basis of people's own sense organs. In order to adapt to this situation and do better research, it is of great necessity to invent the sensor. Therefore, from this point, people can regard the sensor as the electrical sensor organ, namely the extension of people's sensor organs.

What is a sensor? According to the national standard, the sensor is defined as follows: "a device or equipment, consisting of sense organ and interface element, can receive the measured quantity and convent it into a signal on basis of some rules". Simply speaking, the so-called sensor is a kind of testing device, which can receive the measured signal and change it into an electrical signal or other forms. It can satisfy all kinds of requirements, such as transmission, process, memory, display, recording, and controlling. In another word, the sensor is the primary element to realize automatic detection and automatic control.

With the development of the technologies, the whole world walks into an information era. During making full use of the information, what people should do first is to gain an accurate and reliable message. The sensor is the primary way to get such information from the nature and production fields. In the modern industries, especially automation production, all kinds of sensors are commonly used to monitor and control different parameters and thus ensure the equipment operates in the normal or best state. So without so many excellent sensors, modern production will lose its foundation. At present, the development of modern science and technology has been into a lot of new fields. For example, from the macro point, people have to observe the vast universe. From the micro point, people have to observe the particle. Obviously, people's senor organs can not get the information directly from the above-mentioned places. People need the help of the relevant sensors. Now the sensors have been widely applied in different fields, such as industrial production, space development, environmental protection, a survey of resources, medical diagnosis, biological engineering, and historical relic protection. There is no exaggeration that from the vast space to the unbounded sea, almost every modern program can not leave the sensors.

In conclusion, the sensors play a very important and obvious role in economic development and social progress. All countries around the world pay much attention to its development. It is believed that in the future the technology of the sensor will be brought to a leap.
